Before anyone gets excited about the new Star Wars films, just remember…
…They will most definitely be in 3D.
So allow that to temper your expectations a little bit, and let’s hope that it’s not all fucking tailored to 3D, so us lot who watch it in 2D can still perhaps appreciate the cinematography.
3D works for some films, but every motherfucking blockbuster is in 3D. I’m so fucking bored of it. So bored.
Disappointed Star Trek Into Darkness is in 3D, so I can’t just watch it in IMAX without having to watch it in 3D (Although the IMAX preview wasn’t too bad for the 3D and generally it’s a fantastic start to a film) and HUGELY disappointed Man Of Steel is in 3D, and not IMAX so I won’t be watching that at the IMAX. Especially with Man Of Steel, because they’re attempting to bring realism to Superman, and 3D completely detracts from realistic storytelling.
Oh well…I hope Hollywood gets bored of it and realises they should be pumping money into IMAX and standardising 70mm (or sadly the digital equivalent).
It saddens me that TDKR will probably not gross as much as Transformers 3.
It’s not all about Revenue, I know, and anything over $1 Billion is pretty good going, but it’s just a shame that a film I know is shit, having not even seen it, has made more money than a film that, although not perfect, is still one of the best Superhero films of all time and a fitting end to an amazing trilogy.
A load of robots hitting each other amidst gratuitous shots of an typically attractive woman’s arse, as she is saved by a man (naturally), or an intelligent blockbuster with an amazing cast, a great script, one of the greatest living directors and 2 strong female leads. I know which one makes more sense…
I won’t let it dampen my faith in cinema audiences, but it’s a shame.
We move forward.
Transformers 4 is on the way but I, part of a minority certainly, will not be watching it.
Seriously though, I’m done with all this fucking TDKR Footage.
People are GOING to see this film. WB need to stop shoving it down people’s throats with endless TV Spots (of which I have watched none). They’re going down the “Amazing Spider-man” route, which has apparently released in total, 1 hour of footage from the film.
It’s just so fucking annoying, there’s such a lack of faith. These are the two biggest comic book franchise properties out there (despite The Avengers) and given the success of the original Spider-Man trilogy and the all conquering success of Nolan’s first two Batman films, it’s safe to assume that these films are going to not only make back their budgets but, in the case of “…RIses”, become one of the highest grossing films of all time.
Stop showing me what’s going to happen. I want to be surprised when the reel starts rolling…
…although having seen the first 6 minutes already, that’s a bit of an odd thing to say, but you get my point. I would’ve been much more impressed with that Truck Flip in TDK if I hadn’t seen it 10 times by the time I got in the auditorium.
